Job Opening: CDL Operator (Transportation Equipment Operator)
Reporting Location: STATEWIDE. There is a PennDOT Maintenance offices in every PA county.
Daily Radius/Travel: Each county in Pennsylvania has its own PennDOT maintenance department, and when you join, you get to work right in the county where you’re hired. That means no long trips and being home every night. Full‑time employees work 37.5 hours a week, usually from 7 AM to 3 PM, giving you steady hours and a predictable schedule. Overtime is available if you want extra pay, especially during winter, but it’s not required most of the year. In this role, you’ll spend about 20% of your day driving and the rest helping the road crew keep Pennsylvania’s roads safe and in good shape. It’s active, hands‑on work where you can see the results of what you do every day.

Benefits/Bonus: This position is covered by a union and receives regular pay raises based on the union contract, which has typically increased wages about twice a year. Equipment Used: Dump Trucks, Tandem‑Axle Dump Trucks, Plow Trucks / Salt Spreaders, Crew Trucks / Utility Trucks, Flatbed Trucks, Bucket Trucks, Graders, Loaders, and Other Heavy Equipment.
Experience Required: No experience needed. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.
