Choose an Approved CDL Training Program
Make sure the CDL school or training program you select is approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), such as CNS Driver Training Center. Many schools offer VA-certified courses designed to meet the needs of veterans transitioning to civilian careers.
Verify Your Benefits
Contact the VA to confirm your eligibility for education benefits. The Post-9/11 GI Bill and Montgomery GI Bill are commonly used to pay for CDL training. Depending on your type of service history, you may qualify under Chapter 30, Chapter 1606, or Chapter 33 in the GI Bill. Want to transfer benefits to your spouse or children? The VA can help verify the amount of eligibility.
Apply for Your Benefits
Use the VA’s online platform or work with your training school, such as CNS Driver Training Center, to apply for your benefits, which can take around 30 days to process education claims. Once approved, the VA will help cover your tuition and related costs, such as licensing fees and books.
Start Your Training
Begin your CDL training and prepare for a successful career in trucking, knowing your GI Bill benefits are covering most or all of the costs. Depending on your GI Bill Chapter you qualify under, payment may be made from the VA or paid by the student directly.
